This was the fastest Tower in the West! Having just survived the most major tower experience of my life, when it came time to do this painting I was not prepared to evoke the energy of this card again, and anyone who has designed a tarot deck will tell you that the card they are working on has a superb way of becoming part of your life for the duration you work on it..
So, I did something with this card I had not done before and will not do again; I planned, prepared and painted it in one day.
I was attempting to avoid the aspect of the Tower that represents the building of our lives. Stone by stone we put it together, our beliefs, relationships, patterns of movement. But it may not be the life we should be living, or one that makes us happy, or maybe it is too brittle and inflexible to make room for what needs to come.
When the tensions get too high the whole tower is struck down by lightning. We find, then, whether we like it or not, the slate has been wiped clean and we may now begin to rebuild.
The process can be very unsettling, but necessary for a multitude of reasons.
